The Story of You in Navy Blue

The Archive Center at Dayton History was the recipient of this little booklet, which arrived in a collection of artifacts from the family of the late Evelyn Hodges Vogel.

This small (48 pages) booklet seems to have been part of the materials given to women as part of the recruitment process. It has filled in many gaps in my understanding of roles WAVES had during wartime, their training, jobs and life style.

I’m happy to provide it here. It offers a glimpse into the choices that women considered when enlisting in the Navy Reserve.
