The ERL in the NCR News

Electrical Research in the News

In April, 1944, a new column appeared in the NCR News, written by Mary Maeder of the Electrical Research Department. Each department at the Cash had a regular new article, appearing monthly. Mary was appointed to write the news from Building No. 26. The columns, ranging from breezy to gossipy to sad in tone, are fun to read–sometimes reminiscent of a high school newspaper or yearbook, but sometimes poignant, as in reporting the death of a son in the military, or bidding farewell to a friend off to join her soldier husband. The columns captured a few wonderful glimpses into the lives of the workers in 26 and their families. The column began in April 1944 and ran through December 1945.

Above is a list of the articles themselves.

The inner workings of this site will be undergoing some changes in the next few months.

The core pages are now 15 years old--difficult to believe but true.

The plan is to make these improvements without disrupting the content. It will all be good!
